“A goal without an end date is just a dream”
I’d heard this quote in a few different ways - not sure who said it, but there are lots of similar quotes around. Everyone has dreams, but who actually does something about them? Achieving our goals is so much easier if we break them down into small steps and achievable actions and see if achieving this goal will bring up to result we want in all areas of our life..
Any changes to our lives will impact many difference areas and its important to understand that what might be a positive change in one area, could impact negatively in another:
Here are a few examples:
Getting a new job/going for promotion - positive impacts could be a higher salary, more job satisfaction, negatives could be more stress, longer hours or less time available for friends, family and leisure.
Moving house - positive impacts could be the sense of adventure you get from being somewhere new or a new project, the negatives could be financial - moving house comes at a considerable cost these days, losing the network of friends or sense of community and having to start building that all over again.
Retirement - the majority of us will stop working at some point, what will we fill out time with? how will this impact our finances? How will this impact my family and realtionships?
Some change is forced upon us and we have to deal with it, but again breaking that down into small steps may help us cope better with it.
Coaching can help you navigate through change and come out the other side if you choose to.
